The Oregon Trip - Mt Bachelor and Mosquito Falls

So I don't know why but the whole trip my brothers were trying to convince me to let Mason grow a mustache. A few days earlier Mason bought a fake mustache for a quarter at a pizza joint.

Anyways for lunch we headed to Mt Bachelor. David and Melody had to fly home early so they weren't with us the rest of the trip.

Next we headed to a pretty fishing lake.

After we got back from the dock, there were some fishermen. They asked us what we were doing sitting out on the dock. We explained that we were just taking pictures, but they still seemed confused as to why we would want to do this. They were a funny bunch to see, like they were from a movie.

Next we headed to the lava tunnel that Michael, Kristen, Melody, and David went to the day before. This place was really cool.

Brad decided that he wanted to scare some of us. As we were heading back, he hid behind a rock in a tight area, letting Michael and my dad go on with the light. Mason, my mom and I were a little ways behind, so he waited in the dark until he saw our light. He then jumped out in front of us, freaking us out. After the episode of scaring us, he then decided to go a different way back. He went on without our light. He knew that there was a cliff ahead so he decided to stop and wait for us. While turning around he fell off the cliff, not realizing that he had been on it. Anyways so then he scared us again! We thought that he was seriously hurt because he didn't respond right away but luckily it wasn't too much of a drop so he was okay. Hopefully Brad learned his lesson about scaring us, but somehow I don't think he did.

Next we went on an evening hike. Note to self- NEVER go on an evening hike where the trail is right next to water, lots and lots of water. We thought we had experienced the worst of the mosquitoes, little did we know. Luckily Mason had purchased some bug spray. We probably used the whole can up that evening. Mason and I sprayed each other before the hike, but as soon as we reached this bridge they were already upon us.

I'm really not kidding. There were swarms of mosquitoes that were attacking us. Mason and I literally ran to the falls. Even with running, the mosquitoes were following us and then we would hit another swarm of mosquitoes. They were certainly hungry. Mason started respraying everyone and spraying directly into the swarms of mosquitoes. Don't get me wrong, the bug spray worked. Most mosquitoes would land on us and fly away, but some were determined to stay latched onto us. Even those that we land and then take off would still follow us. I had to have Mason spray my hair because they were landing on my head trying to find any surface where they could get blood. Very vicious mosquitoes! 

Meanwhile, of course, people came by on their bikes, happy as could be with no mosquitoes attacking them, looking at us like we were weirdos for whacking ourselves and the air.

Last for the day we went to Black Bear Diner. We thought it was a local diner, but it turned out that they have several locations. Oh well, it was still fun.
